Blog Assignment #8.4

Update: East Baton Rouge Sheriff Office negotiators talked the man down safely and was turned over to the EMS. All lanes are open again on Florida Blvd.



Traffic heading west on the Florida Avenue bridge in Baton Rouge has been stopped as authorities deal with a naked man threatening to jump into the Amite River.

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office was called out to the scene at 9:40 a.m., and has a negotiator on the bridge talking to the man while boats and dive teams are being deployed in the river below.

Currently, the westbound lanes on the bridge are closed while deputies and negotiators try to resolve the incident.
