We all have heard, and made, the excuse of metabolism for not being at the desired weight. You have to take the blame for that because you can influence your body's ability to burn different kinds of calories. Fat calories and regular calories burn differently and are effected by what you eat and when.
How many calories you burn is different from person to person also. Men burn more than women; people over 40 burn slower than young people; muscular people burn faster than people made of jelly. And then there is heredity. Heredity only makes up a small percentage but it is still there. Weight is 40% what you do, 50% what you eat, and 10% genes. The good news is, to fat people, you are gonna have a higher metabolism than your 90 lb neighbor. The sad part is, when you diet you weight down you then need fewer calories but you still want to eat as much as you had before so that is why it is so easy to gain weight.
To burn calories faster, add muscle. 1 lb of muscle burns 35 calories a day doing nothing but 1 lb of fat burns only 2 calories. Weight training also has a longer lasting effect. Cardio will burn more calories in the time you do it than weight training but in the time it take for your muscles to repair themselves and strengthen your metabolism with increase dramatically.
Eating more frequent, SMALLER, meals also increases your body's average metabolism. When you go more than a few hours without consuming any food, your body thinks that there is shortage of food for you to give and it slows the metabolism down. Your body also uses calories to digest foods. ALWAYS eat breakfast. period. Your metabolism slows down over the course of the night so you need something to jump start it back up. I hear all of the "I get so hungry during the day if I eat breakfast" stuff. Shut up. You sound stupid. The reason you don't feel hungry when you don't eat is because your body has slowed down its metabolism to compensate for the abuse you are giving it. Your brain with also not work as well with out food so that would probably be the reason you are failing math and can't pay attention in science. Eat lots of fiber for breakfast because is readies your body to burn fat for the day instead of just regular calories that will give you energy for the day.
Spicy, hot foods give a 20% hike in your metabolism for around 30 minutes after you consume them but they work best to heat the body up with fatty-foods of high carb foods. (so eat them on your almonds and wheat bread, people) Green Tea has been shown to yield the same results but both only give the raise for about 30 minutes.
Food high in protein take 25% more calories to digest them carb rich foods. The benefits of the previous chapter is so small that you should stick with the build muscle, snack on high protein foods, and work out method as the main way. You can still eat your spices and drink your Tea but don't put all of your weight loss hopes in that.
(Girls, your body doesn't have the necessary hormones to build huge muscles so don't fear, your feminine physique won't be ruined by adding muscle, it will just be toned not bulky)
